Senior Program
Senior – “Train to Win” –
The focus of this stage of development is on optimizing individual fitness, refining skills and peaking for major competitions. The focus of training is on optimizing performance through period-specific sessions, by addressing weak points in skills, and by continuing to learn how to “play to our strengths and attack opposition weaknesses.”
Women’s Teams: Senior Women’s 1st XV Men’s Teams: Senior Men’s 1st XV, Senior Men’s 2nd XV Academy Junior Program
U18 – “Train to Compete” –
The focus of this stage of development is on learning to perform in competition situations. This stage of development includes a focus on refining core technical skills (i.e. “getting better and better”), developing mental skills and developing decision-making skills. The focus of training is on using competition exercises to identify and address weak points in skills, as well as learn how to “read and react” to the situation.
Women’s Team: U18 Women Men’s Team: U18 Men U14, U16 – “Train to Train” –
The focus of this stage of development is on continuing to develop the basic technical skills, as well as introducing basic tactical skills and mental skills (e.g. mental preparation, coping skills, etc.). The major focus of training is on learning the basics as opposed to competing.
Teams: U14 Boys, U16 Boys, U15Girls Minor Development Program
U10, U12 – “Learn to Train” –
The focus of this program is on learning fundamental rugby skills, such as passing, catching, running, kicking and tackling. The focus of training is on introducing core technical skills and developing coordination and fine motor control. Coed U8 – “FUNdamentals” –
The focus of this program is on having fun while developing the ABCs of physical literacy – Agility, Balance, Coordination and Speed. Additionally, participants will learn how to “read” what is going on around them and make decisions during games. This program helps to build the foundation for skill development in any sport, while introducing participants to elements of the sport of rugby (e.g. rugby ball and basic contact skills, like rolling, falling and bumping). Coed U6 – “Active Start” –
The focus of this stage of development is on having fun and building confidence, while developing coordination and balance. The focus of training is on learning fundamental movements through relatively unstructured play. This program helps to lay the foundation for future participation in any sport. Coed
