An early start didn't stand them in good stead, but a strong finish from this young side really showed people what Highland guys are made of.

Semi final
Highland 5 Crusader Knights 12

Kicking off at 9am seemed to be the Achilles heel for the Highland U14 boys. With some of them getting up at 4.30 am for the trip to Fletchers Field in Markham, they did not seem to be awake, unfortunately for them a full strength Knights were wide awake and raring to go.

The Knights scored twice in the first half and took complete control of the game taking a 12-0 half time lead. The Highland boys woke up in the second half and stopped the Knights attack and started to apply pressure of their own. Eventually Jordon Hofstra broke free to put 5 points on the board. Unfortunately the end of the game came too soon and Highland had to settle for the runners up game.

Consolation Final
Highland 36 Lindsay 17

The 10.45 kick off obviously suited the boys much better and they went after the much favoured Lindsay team with much more aggression and urgency. Highland had a point to prove here after being given a lesson a month ago when Lindsay soundly beat Highland in a friendly game. Highland made their intentions felt early in the game with two quick tries from Jordon Hofstra and Joel Brattan, Riley Bruce converted the second to bring the early score to 12-0. The game settled down some but Highland kept control of the game and went further ahead when Nick Teri scored his first of two for the day. The first half score was taken to 24-0 when Jordon scored his second of the game.
Lindsay came on strong at the start of the second half and finally broke the Highland defence to take the score to 24-7. This seemed to lift the Lindsay spirits and they soon scored their second try to bring the deficit to 24-12. Nick Teri steadied the ship when he scored with a good move to make it 29-12. Lindsay threw everything at Highland and eventually broke through to bring the score up to 29-17. With the final minutes approaching Scott Rhodes finally brought the game to a close when he scored to bring the final score to 36-17. Riley converted his second of the day at the whistle.
