Fergus, Ontario – Members of Fergus Highland Rugby Football Club recently presented almost 500 pounds of donated food to the Centre Wellington Food Bank as part of the club’s summer-long Highland Tackles Hunger campaign.

The joint initiative, led by Highland’s Master rugby HOGS team and the club’s Minis program, encouraged players, families and members of the community to donate food throughout the summer season. In addition to the substantial food donation, the campaign also raised more than $600 in cash donations for the Food Bank.

The donations were presented to Centre Wellington Food Bank Executive Director Curt McQueen by members of Fergus Highland RFC.

“We’re proud to be able to partner with the Centre Wellington Food Bank in this effort, which makes a huge difference in our community,” Highland officials said.

The Highland Against Hunger campaign reflects Fergus Highland RFC’s ongoing commitment to supporting the local community both on and off the rugby pitch.

Highland RFC would like to thank everyone who donated to this year's campaign.
