Rookie Rugby

UPDATE TO DATE!

Rookie rugby is a safe, non-contact “flag” introduction to the sport we love!

Rookie Rugby was introduced to Highland in 2016 and can be found in schools and communities across Canada.

The game is promoted as “the perfect activity for any community” – it can be run within organizations such as the YMCA, Boys and Girls recreational clubs, local parks or schools and many more!

Starting your Rookie Rugby program is easy, fun, and will bring great benefits to any organization. Check out the benefits for starting Rookie Rugby in your community.

Having many organizations teaching basic rugby skills can only be good for clubs, and bring more potential players to our teams.

The Rookie Rugby website is extensive, providing anyone with the tools and information to start a program in their community.

In past years, Highland has run its own introductory program, 2016 being our first year incorporating “Rookie Rugby” – with great success! For 2016, the club will be contacting past involved schools but welcomes any other schools or groups to come on board! Program starting Feb 1st, 2017.

If you know a school or organization that might benefit from this program please get them to give it a try!

The Rookie Rugby tournament will be Thursday, June 15th from 9am to 3pm with a rain date of Friday June 16th.
